Golfing in the rain

Welcome to the 1st blog page of the Perth Golfing Lawyer.

I have been blogging before with Perth Asian Lawyer.

I thought it would be a good extension to my blogging to include my latest craze. You guess it, it is golfing.

I have been playing golf on a Thursday morning or afternoon for the last 4 mths.

The group of golfing friends that started with the Pua brothers have now increased to about 15 players with 10 regular players.

I am blessed with friends who love golf as much as myself. You need to speak the same golfing language, feel the same joys and frustrations of golfing to understand the brotherhood that we have. We have not found any sister players yet though.

The rationale for a Thursday game was to get away from the weekend crowds. It also means the players are usually self employed businesspersons or retirees.

Marketing and cross referrals was also a reason for starting the golf Thursdays.

Well I have enjoyed the Thursday games so much that I decided to start a blog. Hopefully, it will be a way to promote this growing golf group.

Game on 20 August 2009
Location : Glen Iris Golf Course

There were 9 mad golfers today who braved the relentless rain at Glen Iris. What golf tragics.

William Ong even played with a wrist brace from a broken wrist.

Some did it for love of the game.

Of course Ray and Henry Pua did it JUST to get my money.
I forgot to tell them their legal fees increases in proportion to how much I lose to them.

The scores tell you how bad the weather was. Congrats to Alfred for his 1st win.

INTERESTING GOLF RULE

Which brings me to an interesting rule:

While playing in the rain, you knock in a birdie with one hand while holding an umbrella with the other. Did you break any rules?
A. Holding an umbrella while making a stroke is not allowed. You are penalized 2 strokes.
B. You may shelter yourself from rain during play.
C. Only a caddy may shelter you from rain while making a stroke.

Answer: B. During a round, there is nothing in the Rules that prevents you from protecting yourself from rain with an umbrella.
However, no one else can shelter you from the rain when you are putting.

Next Week's Game

Date: 27 August 2009
Location: Point Walter

Next week’s game is proposed to be at Point Walter. Tee off at 945 am.

For those who have not played there, it is a 9 hole course and quite well maintained with great views.

Everyone is walking. Henry has vouchers for 18 holes for 9 holes fees.

Please confirm if you are playing asap.

To all of you who have not played with us yet or have not played recently, I hope these emails get you excited about the game.

We love to have you play and take your money.
